Take a chill pill, malyutka. There's safeguards in place. Nobody got hurt and we learned some nifty things. It's just common courtesy to let people know what was going on. You want a fish? I got an angler fish that'd spruce your room right up.
You're the type of person who sees an industrial accident and thinks 'That's some cool purple bubbling liquid - really like how it sets off the burning tires', aren't you?
Nah, more like, "Well shit, their safety precautions were obviously sub par, gotta work on that. Also, what is that purple goo made of and how detrimental is it to everything it's currently touching? QUARANTINE NOW."
How're you planning to reach adulthood? PSA: You'll be happier and less likely to get crapped on if you don't assume the worst of everyone all the time.
I dunno about Sweet Medicine, but yeah. Generally, it's better if you're ready for awesomeness rather than awfulness, right. You get what you give and all that karmic stuff.
Eh. It is what it is. Like I said, it'll even out. At least you're not running around the city in a ski mask trying to beat up muggers like some people I could name. (I'm rolling my eyes right now, in case you were wondering.)
Isn't that better handled by non-fifteen year olds? Also - who makes that their go to for extra-curriculas? 'You can choose prom counsel or possibly dying of gunshot wounds - which do you want?' 'I'll take the gunshot wounds, Sir!'
Just a shot in the dark, here, but I'm gonna go with kids who, for whatever reason, want to make a difference and figure prom counsel's not good enough. I'm not endorsing it. I'm not exactly knocking it, either. Just the ski mask getup.
You're thinking small time, which is fine. It's what you know so far. But sometimes it's not so bad, having somebody who'll step in when a person's being mugged or dragged into an alley to be raped.
That person might only be able to do that when they're fifteen. But they grow up. And if they're not dead, they might do something really worthwhile. Like stop a megalomaniac from destroying New York City.
I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's better to have someone willing to do something than no one willing to do anything.
Did you honestly just do the text equivalent of pat me on the head and tell me I'd understand when I'm older?
Look, people like Martin Luther King, those are the people who make a difference.
You want to stop people getting raped? Teach people not to rape and change the system that lets reporting of rape almost as bad as the rape itself.
Create programs that help people out of poverty so a life as a petty criminal seems stupid by comparison.
Make that feathered bastard spend some of his millions on helping people rather then flashing it at kids and pretending he's doing anything but being an asshole.
You people have so much damn money and all you do is hide and maybe help one or two people when you feel like it, if it doesn't break your manicure.
No, I didn't. And I think everything you said is fantastic. The problem is, say you're from somewhere like Hell's Kitchen. You don't have the chance or the opportunity to do any of that stuff. Ideals are great, goals are awesome. But you're fifteen and you're living in a shack of an apartment, what do you do when you see someone getting beat up? Wait around for somebody with money to show up and set up some program so that hopefully people will learn that bad things are bad and not do them anymore?
No, you strap on a stupid ski mask and you go out your window and, since you're able to do things nobody expects you to be able to do, you stop the guy doing the mugging or the raping or the kidnapping and you tie him up and you drop him in front of the police station with a note.
Grand plans and sweeping cultural change are all well and good. If you can get something going, more power to you. But it's gotta start somewhere.
Thing is, you can come at anybody here and try to bash them over the head with your speeches and righteous indignation, but the truth of the matter winds up being that you don't know any of us well enough to make the kinds of generalizations you're making.
Is Warren an asshole? Yeah, sometimes. But that's not all he is. You can google him to find out what the gossip rags say he's done, but unless you stop mouthing off long enough to actually ask him about some of the other stuff, you don't have any room to say the things you're saying. You just make yourself sound close minded and kind of hypocritical.
Usually things they tinker with don't do that. However we are mutants and strange things are attracted to us. But I believe Clint said it best, there are measures installed to protect everyone. Sometimes idiots get through.

Date: 2015-08-22 08:21 am (UTC)Better to work on root causes then beat up people in dark corners.
Especially when beating some schlub does nothing about the cycle of violence except continue it.
Besides - I've seen too many 'good ol boys' who thought they were on the side of the righteous beating on some poor POC kid and calling it justice.
