Because you are rash and typically irresponsible. Allowing you to vote might result in Beyonce becoming President.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, oui? But most people do not agree with me.

I'm personally of the opinion that if you're considered old enough to have the reasoning to drive/be tried as an adult in a court of law/etc. then you should be able to vote, but then I'd also like to have people educated in civics starting much earlier.

Same reason I'm not allowed to vote even though I've lived in this country for four years and will in fact be effected by whoever the "real" Americans decide to choose.

Thank god I have a British and Indian citizenship to fall back on.
