And I think that only sees an aspect of everything we are as people. You can’t see a person if all you see is one singular part of who they are.
I’m not just deaf. I’m not just Native or Latina. I’m not just a woman or a mutant. I’m all those things but I’m also not your stories or your view. I’m my own story to tell.
Anyway, I love the physicality of the sign paired with the music. It’s a dance of language and it’s amazing.

Just been kinda of listening to this (The cochlear makes it possible to hear the words for the most part. It’s hard sometimes to describe to hearing people what I actually hear)
I feel like having conversations sometimes about anything important there’s always the possibility of disconnect or misunderstanding.
I’m doing all my babies first college degree courses right now before they start teaching us the important stuff. But I’ve met so many new people and it’s been interesting because there’s so many different stories out there.
Don’t worry, I’m still the angry little fighter you all know and love. But therapy and outlets for the rage seem to be helping.

Speed Dating is odd
Feb. 14th, 2022 04:25 pmWent to a speed dating thing the student association organized. It was fun but odd.
Some people were totally relaxed, others taking it way too seriously.
Some guy decided Russian Political history was his go to pick up technique.
I don’t even know on that one, but he was a fan of Batman comic books so might be someone interesting to know.
I did make a new friend tho. Absolutely no spark whatsoever but he’s a good guy. He invited me out to have some coffee on Friday and meet some of his other friends.
If he’s not a total creeper I might see if he wants to come by the anime club, they’re having a Naruto showing on Sunday.

Okay, so, people need to remember to look at me when you’re talking. I’m not doing any call outs because that’s lame but it’s going to be months of healing before I can decide if I want to get my cochlear implants back or not. (Yeah, I’m not sure I want them or not yet)

It’s like we ask you folks for the bare minimum and you bitch like we just hit you with a hammer.
