And I don’t just mean how blue his eyes are. Sometimes people only engage with disabilities or identities as tragedies of what we lack that ‘majority’ people have.

And I think that only sees an aspect of everything we are as people. You can’t see a person if all you see is one singular part of who they are.

I’m not just deaf. I’m not just Native or Latina. I’m not just a woman or a mutant. I’m all those things but I’m also not your stories or your view. I’m my own story to tell.

Anyway, I love the physicality of the sign paired with the music. It’s a dance of language and it’s amazing.
